The Norman J. Levy Lakeside School's Site-Based Shared Decision-Making Team meets on a monthly basis to discuss topics of educational concern. The Site-Based Team is composed of teachers, parents, administrators and non-instructional staff. The primary goal of the Site-Based Team is to improve student academic achievement. The Norman J. Levy Lakeside Team sponsors a "Community Read-Aloud Day," in February, and an end-of-the-year school-wide "Writers' Celebration." The Site-Based Team has also implemented character-building mini-themes on courtesy, charity, community, patriotism, tolerance, responsibility and good sportsmanship. The Team reviews and analyzes standardized test scores and the annual N.Y.S. Report Card. Homework guidelines, building security, personal safety curriculum and the computer and technology program have also been areas of interest and discussion.
